TaQuinda Cylar: A Woman Who Is Shifting the City

TaQuinda Cylar (TMariePR) believes public relations and social media are more than professions; they are callings rooted in purpose and impact. With more than 19 years of experience in communications, she has developed and executed integrated marketing and public relations strategies across higher education, automotive, healthcare, nonprofit, faith based and lifestyle industries, helping brands establish their voice, expand their reach and authentically represent their culture in the marketplace. Her work has supported institutions and organizations including Oakland University, Eastern Michigan University, Real Times Media, the Stellar Gospel Music Awards, the GM Minority Dealers Association, The Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan, Detroit Youth Boxing, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Faith Xperience Church, Christian Tabernacle Church and the Inaxxs Music Business Conference. A two time graduate of Eastern Michigan University, she holds both a Master’s degree in Integrated Marketing and Communications and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations. As a member and past president of the Public Relations Society of America – Detroit Chapter, where she made history as the first Black female president, she has championed diversity and inclusion within the industry, and she continues her service as a leader within the Inkster Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
